We are pleased to announce the inaugural SWAYS long player, GHOST OUTFIT – I Want You To Destroy Me. Recorded in our beloved Bunker, the album documents the bitterness of separation and young love gone wrong. Conceived and delivered as a musical whole, with a crafted, tuneful pop aesthetic emerging through dense layers of noise and distortion, I Want You To Destroy Me is not so much a sound as a state of mind.

Lovers of England, Happy Saint Valentine’s Day.

To get you in the mood, we’re pleased to announce the release of the second single by Emperor Zero, ‘Mental Health Café’ (SWAYS016).

The video by Steven Cherry received its premiere this afternoon on über-cool Berlin website No Fear of Pop.

The vinyl, featuring cover photography by Natalie Curtis, is available to pre-order now. It can either be bought individually or as part of a very special new ‘Mothers of England’ box set.

We are delighted to announce the release of the debut EP by Naked, available on cassette tape, with free poster and digital download, from 15 October 2012. (‘Death Dance’ available to all as a free download.) An accompanying video is now available [HERE] Directed by Steven Cherry and filmed on location at Fort Levy, Levenshulme, Manchester.

BIOGRAPHY

Luke Louche stands in the street, smoking a roll up with his back to the wall and shivering in the freezing meat cellar of a Manchester winter. In the background a noisy punk band bleed into nothingness. Hunched, withdrawn, his eyes are cool and distant; when he answers a question he blinks, as though being drawn back into the present from a faraway place. There’s trouble there … Also here on this good night is Sébastien Perrin, a young itinerant in a leather jacket on the most fuxked up French exchange imaginable, a flicker of a smile playing at the corner of his lips.

We don’t know how the hell these two started talking, what magnetism brought their like-minds together, but we’re pleased that they did. They soon struck up a friendship that revolved around a shared love of William Burroughs and the musical avant-garde and it wasn’t long before Sébastien had moved to Salford and the duo had set up camp in our HQ at the Führer Bunker, which they filled with caterwauling clarinets, yelping vocals and the screeches made from crude instruments crafted out of planks of wood and razor wire.

Earlier this year they began to release demos and perform live in alternating guises, sometimes as Naked on Drugs, sometimes stripped back to Naked, but always exposing themselves with non-cha-lance — n. the trait of remaining calm and seeming not to care; a casual lack of concern — and of course we immediately fell in love.

It’s been a long time. We were just about to take out a missing persons ad. Has anyone seen these ghosts? Once the toast of the North, ripping out thunderous live shows, playing gigs on buses and excitedly embarking on experimental video projects, just as the two-piece seemed set to scale new heights they suddenly vanished behind their white sheets.

There were rumours: a sighting of the young duo on Market Street drinking continental lager from cans and shouting at children. Someone claimed to have seen them sporting beards, sunglasses and Hawaiian shirts at Manchester Airport, queuing for a flight to South America like a pair of guilty Nazis. Someone else reckoned that a nasty man had kidnapped all our bands and taken them down to that there London in a metal cage like the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang where they were going to be enslaved by a record label funded by the blood money from one of them cunts off of Dragon’s Den. Come along, kiddie-winkies!

As if.

Then, last week, we received a brown paper package. Instead of the east German porn we’d been hoping for, it had some music inside. The postmark had been washed off in the summer rain. It seemed to say ‘Cong …’ something. We were immediately won over by their commitment to the conventional unconventionality of rock myth-making, teasing us like seasoned pros — oh so coy, elusive and aloof — before we blew our load all over those dirty sheets of theirs at this sordid, sleazy act of revelation. We fuxking love that kind of shit. Better still, we had a listen and we were staggered by what we heard. Here was subterranean noise art for the darkened dancefloors of the post-industrial age. In the absence of any further instructions we thought we’d take the liberty of sharing it with you all. See what you reckon.

So, mothers of England, we present you with ‘W A S T E’, a first taste of THE CONGO TAPES and a solemn promise: there’s plenty more where this came from. A whole album’s worth, in fact. They’ll be making live appearances too. Les Ghosts will be playing Bestival and also a very special show at Islington Mill on October 12 where the new album will be spanked out in its entirety. Atrocity Boy Reviews the Final Führer Bunker Exhibition (006).

Last month we’d hoped to play host to Outfit in one final blowout of a Führer Bunker Exhibition. The stage/cage was set. Nothing but a gang armed with machetes stood in our way … The police had an ‘issue’ with it. Phone calls were made. We weren’t arguing … It will hereafter be known as the gig that never was but that didn’t stop Atrocity Boy reviewing it, sort of, and our Mistress of Photography, Natalie Curtis, was also there - somewhere - taking photographs.

Bless them, for they art weird.
